Astronomers have just recently
confirmed the existence of an Earth-like planet in the habitable zone
around a star not unlike our own sun. The planet, "Kepler
22b", is 2.4 times the size of Earth with a temperature averaging
22 C degrees. There are 2,326 other planets
that are candidates as having possible habitable zones with 48 having
been confirmed as such. Three smaller planets orbit a tiny red dwarf
star "KOI-961" and they are just 0.78, 0.73 and 0.57 times the
radius of Earth. The planet, "Gliese 581g" seems identical to
Earth.
It is this exciting time in astronomy that
facilitates the normality of "spacescapes" as the painting of
outer galaxies. It is by not knowing their evolution nor the chemical
make-up of their rocks, gases or liquids that in the rendering of their
color, line and texture, there are no visual boundaries. It is that
which initiates the fun of it all. "SPACESCAPES", the second
art book, will be completed this year.
