     ART QUEST presented the evolution of most of the art movements of the last century. Throughout history every artist has been moved by the beauty of LINE, TEXTURE and COLOUR, with each special relationship for their own sake and not by the subject material that they represented. A number of art movements were explored by using 100 paintings as examples. Communicating this basis for understanding abstraction created an expansive palette, enhancing the artist’s quest.

   Painting is only valid as art when originality is achieved. The non-objective works from the 1960's, as presented in "Art Quest", were by that qualification truly avant-garde. In this century these contemplations of numerous outer space galaxies may be as valid.

GULF  ISLAND  SUITE: Originally written as an eclectic representation of their varied genre, for five piece ensemble, the character of numerous styles then being heard as one unique program was the initial goal.  When these instrumentals were altered to augment the lyrics were applicable, many lyrics became humorous, some became sentimental - in all cases they remained varied. PRAIRIE NOSTALGIA - A MUSICAL SUITE: The fourteen scores of music of this book are presented on usable pages of 8.5 inches by 11 inches, as are the previous music books. 
          From a school of musical thought that is now rather historical, the notes are evocative of that which the titles connote. The instrumentals are metaphors of sound, referencing sky, wind, rocks, streams, plodding waltz techniques and first love. They evolve into melody lines with the prairies presented metaphorically and beautifully, beginning with a preamble, building to be more integrate and interesting towards a final crescendo.
